The Kokugan (黒岩, “black rock”) Slate Plate is cut from natural slate and finished by hand, leaving a gentle chipped edge that frames food with quiet contrast.
The deep charcoal surface highlights the colours of sushi, cheeses, fruit, or pastries much like ink on handmade paper. Subtle grey veins appear differently on every plate, so each piece is one of a kind.
Five sizes are available. The smallest 10 × 10 cm square is ideal for canapés, while the largest 40 × 12 cm platter holds a shared main dish. Mixing sizes creates layers on a buffet or tasting board.
The dense, non-porous stone can be chilled in the refrigerator to keep sashimi or salads cool, or warmed in an oven up to 150 °C for tapas. A light food-safe seal protects the surface without affecting flavour.
Soft pads on the base guard the table from scratches. Cleaning is simple: wipe with a damp cloth and let the plate dry thoroughly.
Each plate is packed in recyclable, shock-absorbing material so it arrives ready for immediate use or gifting.
